Hola.
This week was good. My new comp is Elder Negri and he´s from Peru. the part of Lima called Callao (Dave, maybe you know where that is? He told me he lives in the Lima Central mission though).
Ok so do you want to hear something funny about Chile. Of course you do:
Sometimes when we´re knocking doors people will say to us that they can´t come out because they´ll get the boca chueca (means like...messed up mouth...sort of). So what is the Boca Chueca. Well, people here ALWAYS drink tea and other types of hot drinks. And they say that if you drink a hot drink then go outside into the cold your mouth will slide to side and get stuck in a weird position. In other words, your mouth will become chueco. On saturday night we were talking to people on this one street (wasn´t even that cold) but this lady came out and then wrapped her scarf around her mouth and then explained to us how the boca chueca is real and how it happened to someone in her family and how she has to wrap her mouth with the scarf because she had tea. So is the Boca Chueca real? Or just a Chilean excuse to not talk to the missionaries. You be the judge.
So the exciting news in Chile is that the Miners are all alive. All 33 of them. And this family (the one that has the son-in-law in the mine) is changing as well. The parents are way inactive but the Dad I think is realizing the importance of the Gospel and is starting to come back to church and Dana (the one who´s husband is in the mine) came to church with her family last week and with her Dad yesterday. She´s been reading the Book of Mormon too. And now that her husband is ok (and that she had that experience with prayer) just maybe she´ll want to have that peace with her ALWAYS (which only comes through the GIFT of the Holy Ghost). We´ll see what happens. Its kinda happening naturally i think.
Hmmm. Not much happened this week really. It was just the first week of the change, adjusting to a new companion and what not...which can be a little difficult when you´ve been in the area as long as I have, oh well patience is a gift that we all have to pursue (go read President Uchtdorfs talk on Patience....super bacan) but everything is all really good, Elder Negri is exactly what I needed. However, I am getting anxious to leave Ovalle (I Don´t know how Andy ever was in Livermento for 9 months). We have a few investigators, one has fecha but didn´t come to church yesterday. So we´ll see what happens. Our goal for September is 4. And with Faith and diligence and the will of the Lord, we can acheive it.
The Elmers are back!? What? Didn´t they like just leave. Whoa...does that mean Kim Nield is coming home soon too? Thanks for the updates about everything Mom. So you´re going start working on the Kitchen? That´s cool. Is there a new dog in the future of the family? Sounds like its SUPER hott in Texas. But at least you all have air conditioning and stuff.

PS- the pictures are from last p-day (after we had done internet). We made quesadillas before Elder Machado and Elder Robinson left. Why we all bought the same shirt...i have no idea.
