Oh little town of Quintero

Wow everyone. Thanks for writing me.






Anyway....



So I wanted to tell you guys some stuff about Christmas.



Here in Chile the big thing is Pan de Pascua (basically like Fruit Cake) IT WAS AT EVERY HOUSE WE WENT TO. They all eat a nice dinner at like 10 at night on the Christmas Eve and then at midnight open presents.



It was really nice talking to everybody. Mom, I feel really really really bad. Because i feel like I cut you off at then end. Which is probably true. but i really had to go because my comps family was going to call. and i already been talking for more then 45 minutes anyway. Christmas was actually pretty cool. WE did some cool things as a pencion. On 24th we had a zone activity singing en the plaza de Quintero (a town like an hour north of Viña- part of our zone) while the barrio of quintero reenacted the nativity. After at like 9:30 we got our sector again and had a little noche de hogar with the first counselor in the bishopric and his wife. they´re a really young couple and don´t have kids yet so it was really tranquilo. it was nice and then for la cena we had pavo relleno (basically what they do you is they take a turkey, open it up and flatten it out...take out all the bones and then put queso and stuff on top and then they roll it back up). IT WAS GOOD. After the cena we went back to the pencion where we had some fun (thanks for package...it helped make our christmas really fun). and then we finally went to bed at like 1. Which may not seem that late, but holy cow it was late. The 25 we made pancakes as a pencion and then talked with people in the feria (like the bazar or market) in the morning and then we had lunch and Pollo Relleno con otras cosas, por ejemplo Arroz Navideño (rice mixed up with tomate, corn, and palta) IT WAS REALLY GOOD TOO. Then we went out and worked a bit and then called the families. It was a pretty good christmas actually.



But really this week was good. Conferencia de la Costa was good. WE did like a special christmas program, ate lunch and then watched The Nativity Story....it was actually a pretty good movie. I really like my new companion. We get along pretty well and we´re excited for this change. We don´t have much right now and this past week was a little rough because we lost a lot time with changes, conference, and christmas and everything. BUT there is a ton of ánimo and fe in the zone right now. we had 12 baptisms in the zone during december. which is the first time Viña Oeste has one, achieved the meta and two had 12 baptisms. and we should be having a lot more as a zone en Jan and Feb, entonces....we´re excited. Actually the mission as a whole is progressing a lot. I´m excited to see what the mission will do in 2011.





Shannon Keddington, if you read these, My mom told me that you were looking into possibly moving to the DFW area: i´ve heard really good things about the YSA ward in Arlington and the YSA ward and Institute Programs in Denton. The DFW Area en general has pretty good YSA/INstitute programs.



Ale- One it was fun talking to you in spanish. You definitely have a different accent then the Chileanos. Oh and my companion wants to know if you have seen the tv show Chavo del Ocho.



In the closing seconds of the conversation with mom, i shared something like this, and i just want everyone to be able to read:



Remember why we celebrate Christmas. Remember that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the World. Remember that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. And that through the Gospel of Jesus Christ we really can have eternal Families and return to live with our Father in Heaven. Everything is possible through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
