Sounds like life is pretty crazy and really HOT in Texas. Its weird to think that it is summer there.
Anyway, story of the week (names have been changed)
So, on my first day in Chamiza we went and taught Carlos. He had been taught once like the week the before. He is a Colombiano. He has lived in Chile for like 7 years. Anyway, his life was basically falling apart. We taught him, he said that he knew everything was true and how he had felt very strengthened, we talked a lot about repentence and we invited him to be baptized. And he accepted, for el 20 de Agosto. He told us he was going to to go Church and everything. We set another appointment with him for the following friday. Before we left, he gave us the address of his wife. They apparently had had problems and were separated and it was just bad situation, but he was trying to change and wanted his wife to hear the message of the Gospel. But he didn't want us to go in his name...because if we did, they apparently wouldn't accept us.
So we go and visit Rosa, his wife. We basically act like we are just knocking doors. At first she gives us the typical excuse of being Catholic, but then when we started to talk to her about the families and how the Book of Mormon can answer questions like Is there life after death etc, she took interest. She accepted a Book of Mormon and a return visit.
So on Friday, we go to our scheduled appointment with Carlos. He isn't there. Which is so weird, because he had seemed so positive. So we left a note and were a little bummed out. Then went off to do our intercambios with the Zone Leaders. My Companion and one of the Zone leaders passed by Rosa on saturday, but she wasn't there. They also passed by Carlos, but he wasn't there and but the note hadn't been moved.
On Sunday, Carlos doesn't come to church. Lame. So I was a little bugged. Especially when Elder Da Silva tries calling Carlos and some guy answers saying "No am I Raul, Carlos isn't here, you have the wrong number am Chilean etc". So we just leave it alone for a little bit.
Then on tuesday, we go by Rosa again. While we are there, he sister walks up the road and tells us that Rosa is not there. So we start talking to her sister. She asks if we had also been talking to Carlos. "What?" we think. "How does she know?". Well turns out that something had happened between Rosa and Carlos and on friday night Carlos was really depressed about it, and had gotten a little too drunk. Somehow ended up in Quilpué (inland from Viña but before Villa Alemana). And the midst of the drunkness got in a fight, got stabbed and died. Because of what happened Rosa and her sister had gone to Carlos's apartment to gather stuff up and they had found the Book of Mormon. It could also be that his cell phone got stolen and for this reason and different man answered the phone.
Anyway, it was just a little crazy experience. I have never had an investigator with a fecha bautismal get killed before. I don't think it happens that much. But, this is just one other thing to add to the list of crazy things that can happen to you on your mission. Me and companion have thought a lot about the Plan of Salvation, and how its interesting that before his death, Carlos had the opportunity to accept an invitation to repent, change, and to be baptized (he however, still hadn't been taught about the Word of Wisdom). He is now in the Spirit World, learning the Gospel. And will one day, thanks to the Temple and the Merciful of Plan of Salvation, have the chance to make the covenant of Baptism.
So, like everyone will be in Texas this week. That's fun and crazy. Dave and Ale will have a lot of Tio and Tia business to attend to. Does Ale's Tios still have that restaurant? I am glad that you all enjoyed your summer in Park City. that's weird that you are entering the final weeks of summer. Wow, time passes by fast.

I got a letter from Alisa. So in total did Friday Night Lights have Four of Five seasons? Haha. I'll have to watch it when I get back.
I also got a letter from Jason McFarland....thats cool he can use DearElder. What is the word on Johnathan Lui? Has anyone else from our ward gotten mission calls recently? Well, I guess you are all just getting back home and everything.
My comp says that there was only one time in his memory where there have been Hermanas in his city....it could have very easily been Charity's sister.
Yes i remember about Andy being in Livramento, there is an Elder that I lived with twice from the Uruguay side, Rivera i think is the name of the city.
