So, this past saturday we got the chance to go to the Cultural Celebration of the 50th Anniversay of the Chilean Mission. La Misión Viña was not formally invited. But we were allowed to go if we went with members (and really just the southern half of our mission).
It was pretty much AWESOME.
Because we were missionaries, we asked to help the Santiago missions sing A Donde Me Mandes Iré. that was cool. because pretty much like more than half of our mission was able to go- there were a ton of Viña missionaries. The coolest part about the sitting with all the missionaries is that while we were waiting for it start people all over the stadium were like cheering and stuff. sometimes even the missionaries. then a couple of the Elders from our mission started singing our mission hymn....so of course we start singing along. it was cool. turns out the Viña mission is the only mission in Chile with its own mission hymn.
So it was awesome. They talked a lot about the Book of Mormon and how the Book of Mormon prophecies about the restoration and the what will happen to the American Continents...so they did these huge dances from various south american countries (Mexico included...that was cool). and then moved into the poineers crossing the plains and Parly P. Pratts first missionary trip to Chile in 1851. Did you know that arrived in Valparaíso and then actually was in Quillota (La Calera is the Zone of Quillota)? So our mission thought that was pretty cool. Anyway....it was awesome. Let me explain the pictures:
009: Elder Speakman, from the Flower Mound 5th Ward, he is serving in La Misión Santiago Oeste. Goes home in like five weeks.
010: Stadium
014:Stadium
015: Elder Bryant...My companion
016: Elder Pincheira, an old companion
017: Gabriel Pujado, FROM CANIHUANTE
018: Gabriel y Alfonso, FROM CANIHUANTE
020: Elder Ballantyne, He's the elder from McKinney. Gets home this week.
Ok, so really fast because i have to go. I was completely shocked to see the kids from Canihuante (my frist area). I also saw the branch president from Canihuante as i was leaving, it was sooo cool. It was like talking to someone from home. anyway it was a great weekend. then on sunday morning Heavenly Father wanted to make sure all the missionaries in Viña woke up on time....so he sent us a temblor (tremor). haha. ironic.
gotta go, chao!
